"Postcard Vacations": The Many Faces of Travel and Leisure behind the Berlin Wall. Temporary exhibit of postcards, brochures, souvenirs, and archival photos from 1951 to 1989, featuring the marketing and advertising of tourism in the context of communism.  Curated by Dr. Rossitza Ohridska-Olson, Sofia, Bulgaria.

Michael Di Giovine UNWTO Speech, 'Innovation: Potential or Pariah for Sustainable Heritage Tourism?'

Museum Director Michael A. Di Giovine gave the keynote address “Innovation: Potential or Pariah for Sustainable Heritage Tourism” at the United Nations World Tourism Organization’s 40th Plenary Meeting of Affiliate Members in Hamedan, Iran, November 12, 2018. An expert on pilgrimage and heritage, Di Giovine also ran a workshop with Dr. Mohamad Sharifi, Isfahan University, on religious tourism for Iranian and international attendees.

In February 2019, student co-curator Emily Rodden has published a series of articles on her research with Tucson-based humanitarian outreach organization, Borderlinks. The research emerged from her work curating the Human Rights in Latin America exhibit, in which several humanitarian organizations contributed artifacts found in the Sonoran desert at the US-Mexico border. The articles focus on the high-profile trail of Borderlinks volunteers, who were convicted of providing aid to undocumented migrants.

As part of the Alumni Weekend calendar of events, the Museum hosted an alumni gala to celebrate the opening of the Rwanda Nziza: Beautiful Rwanda exhibit on April 27 from 6:00-8:30. The event was positively reviewed by the Daily Local.
