As part of the Finance and Administration Division at West Chester University, the members of the Department of Public Safety are committed to enhancing the university experience by maintaining a safe, orderly and inviting environment for our students, employees and guests to study, work and enjoy all of what the university has to offer. In partnership with our community, we are committed to being campus guardians and to serve our community by treating all with respect, compassion, and fairness.

Emergencies

For emergency services (Police/Fire/EMS) both on and off campus, dial 911. You can also use any of the Emergency Phones located across the campus to call for assistance. Just press the red button and the phone will automatically connect with the Public Safety Dispatch Center. You can also report incidents in person at Public Safety located in the Peoples Building, 690 South Church Street.

WCU Safe is the official safety app of West Chester University. It is the only app that integrates with WCU's safety and security systems. The Department of Public Safety has worked to develop a unique app that provides students, faculty and staff with added safety on the WCU campus. ALICE TRAINING

ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) is an options-based strategy to survive violent critical incidents. These incidents include persons with guns, knives, blunt objects, vehicles, or anything else that could be used as a weapon. Plans can fail. That's why West Chester University Police teach an options-based strategy. Instead of handing every person a cookie-cutter plan to shut off the lights and hide in a corner, ALICE offers each person choices to have at their disposal if the unthinkable occurs.

CrashDocs.org

Rather than issuing antiquated carbon copy "accident reports" for vehicle collisions that occur on our campus roadways and parking lots, West Chester University Police Department is now utilizing CrashDocs.org to facilitate vehicle information exchanges amongst drivers. Those involved in a vehicle collision may retrieve their FREE Driver Exchange online by using the incident/reference number provided to them by WCU Police. We remind everyone to always STOP IMMEDIATELY and notify police in the event of a traffic collision so that we may verify driver identities, vehicle information and document damages to ensure compliance with the law regarding traffic collisions.
