Program Overview
West Chester University’s interdisciplinary Certificate of Publishing provides high quality preparation for diverse publishing and related new media careers by examining the shifts in writing, reading, and publishing over the centuries. This training prepares our graduates to navigate today's ever-changing publishing and media worlds. The certificate program is dedicated to quality, flexibility, and affordability, and can be completed in under a year through hybrid and online courses. With courses offered in partnership between the College of Arts and Humanities and the College of Business and Public Management, the Publishing Certificate program draws on from the strengths of both colleges to equip students with a well-rounded, hands-on understanding of contemporary publishing and digital media. Students also gain multifaceted knowledge of publishing history and media transformations; it is the only program in the area (and quite possibly the nation) do so. By maintaining and expanding our collaborative relationships with area industries and employers, the WCU Publishing Certificate Program is dedicated to enhancing the required internship experience and, in turn, the marketability of and employment opportunities for its graduates.

The certificate prepares its graduates for various careers in publishing including copyeditor, content writer, developmental editor, production manager, acquisition editor, marketing associate, and more. It also prepares students to work in various media positions, communications fields, corporate publications, and marketing at large.
