Position Responsibilities:
Customer Relations, Data Input, Digital Media Technology, General Office, Office Ambassador, Social Media
Involves the following:

This position will provide general assistance with:
•Conduct outreach to student groups to increase awareness and educate WCU students about the TCDC mission •Perform outreach to the various Colleges and academic departments •Develop and present TCDC workshops to residence halls, student organizations, etc. •Greet visitors to the office and direct them to appropriate personnel and resources •Assist students/alumni with the utilization of TCDC website resources •Answer telephones, take detailed messages, and provide front desk assistance with appointment scheduling as needed •Assist job and internship seekers with search tools and resources, such as materials in the Career Library and Ram Career Network navigation •Design and distribute promotional materials, such as bulletin boards, flyers, posters, etc. •Staff TCDC events (including tabling events and programs) such as Career Center On-the-Go! (outreach program in high traffic areas on campus) •Refer students to appropriate departments, staff, and resources •Participate in mandatory training sessions throughout the ye
Specific duties as they relate to this department:
1. Career Exploration (1 Position) • The student will work closely with the TCDC’s Assistant Directors to support students who are exploring majors and careers, specifically Pre-Major students who have not declared a major. The student in this project area will work to update and develop a career and major exploration guide. This student will also work to create and manage content on the FHG Library Careers Guide and produce monthly e-newsletter content for the New Student Programs Newsletter. • The student in this role should have the ability to: manage multiple projects at one time; have a strong interest in helping students decide on major/career path; and work in a team setting. 2. Student Organization & Paraprofessional Development for the Division of Student Affairs (DOSA) (1 Position) • The student will meet periodically with one of the TCDC’s Assistant Directors and/or Graduate students to provide career-related outreach to other paraprofessional staff on-campus and interact with targeted on-campus organizations. The student in this project area will support the department’s effort to deliver, career-related content to key populations in alignment with university priorities (equity, retention, and student persistence toward graduation). This role will also conduct outreach to various supervisors across DOSA. • The student in this role should have the ability to: maintain strong connections to the WCU community; effectively communicate in a professional manner; be flexible in attending group meetings; have an interest in training and development; possess strong interpersonal skills. 3. Social Media and Marketing (1 Position) • The student will meet periodically with one of the TCDC’s Assistant Directors and/or Graduate students to focus on communication through social media. The student in this project area will implement and manage the TCDC Facebook page and Twitter account. Depending on interest and skills-level, there is potential for this position to focus on digital content to meet the needs of on-line users/learners. This role will also coordinate outreach through Career Center On-the-Go!. • The student in this role should have the ability to: understand multiple social media platforms; exhibit strong communication (verbal and written) skills; think creatively and strategically; compile, organize, and analyze information; work within deadlines; and work independently.
